FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 19, 2020

To:      The Great Students in Professor Pitney’s Class

Fr:       The Senate Republicans

Re:      DEMOCRATS STOP THE MADNESS
SEND YOUR LEGISLATION TO THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE IMMEDIATELY

STOP DELAYING AND CLEARLY IGNORING THE PROCESS AND THE RULES FOR LEGISLATION IN THE SENATE

As of 2:00pm today, Sunday, April 19, 2020, the Democrats have failed to work within the rules of the game. As responsible Republicans, we came together as a caucus and worked hard late into the night to submit our language for legislation as agreed. We were very hopeful, but unfortunately doubtful that the Democrats would play by the same rules. Instead, as we anticipated, they clearly decided to go to bed early and not be responsible and submit language so that we can continue the process on a bi-partisan basis.

We call upon the Democrats to stop playing games and get to work.
Because the rest of the world is not able to work means we have to come together as elected representatives to continue our representative government and work for the people of our great country.

We do not have the time or honestly the patience to stand by idle and wait for the Democrats to wake up from their naps and submit their proposed language as the process clearly defined.   This is not only against the protocol, but this is an outrage that the Democrats would think that the Republicans would stand by and allow them to act in such a manner against the best interests of the people of the United States.

The Republicans in the Senate have not received the appropriate draft legislation from the Democrats and we hereby call upon all Democrats to get off of your rear ends on your couch and put your hands on your keyboard and send over immediately the appropriate documentation so we can begin our efforts to pass legislation for the people of our great country as we were elected to do so.

Our forefathers came together and established a process for the U.S. as members of Congress to work on behalf of the people.  When the Democrats continue to stall and ignore the process and leave the American public hanging, this is not only unacceptable behavior, this should outrage all Democrats, Republicans and Independents in our great nation. Now is the time not only to run, but sprint to the polls and vote for anyone but a Democrat as they clearly do not take their responsibilities seriously and think that their actions and stall tactics benefit them. Their ignorance causes them to fail to understand the terrible things that will happen to our country while they stand by on holiday.

The Democrats have clearly failed and they should remember this quote from their former leader, “I always believe that ultimately, if people are paying attention, then we get good government and good leadership. And when we get lazy, as a democracy and civically start taking shortcuts, then it results in bad government and politics.”
-Barack Obama, interview, MSNBC, September 15, 2006

STOP THE MADNESS. WAKE UP AND FULFILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOUR COUNTRY AND THE PEOPLE YOU REPRESENT.

Signed,

Senator Graham, Senator Sasse, Senator Cruz, Senator Blackburn, Senator Ersnt
