Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is facing possibly one of his toughest races yet this fall. Amy McGrath (D), a former Marine Corps pilot is running a serious campaign which gained secured considerable coverage this week by outraising McConnell's campaign $12.8 million to $7.8 million in the first quarter of 2020. Much of this is backed by small donors as well. However, this obviously does not take into account the behind-the-curtain donations for McConnell that are sure to be significant. Currently, McConnell is polling only a few points ahead of McGrath, and they are in a virtual tie according to one poll from February.

Also, McGrath's campaign really highlights the two Congresses approach we have been looking at in this class. In 2018, she ran for a seat in Kentucky's 6th Congressional district with this ad, which really resembles the previous military-style ads we have seen in class, and appeals directly to the type of voters she is trying to earn in KY.
